Welcome to Basker International Childcare, formerly known as Zein International Childcare. We believe in the unique benefits that growing up in an international environment provides to children. For us, everything begins with understanding. We pay close attention to each child: who they are, their unique story, background and way of seeing the world. For the child

Our team of international, well-qualified childcare professionals delivers a modern pedagogical approach that offers fun and memorable learning experiences supporting every area of development. Sometimes we provide close guidance and stimulation; at other moments we quietly step back, always trusting each child’s natural rhythm of discovery.

Through meaningful activities and relationships, children learn who they are: what they enjoy, what they can do, and how to connect with others. This helps them develop the skills and abilities needed to thrive in their friendships, school life, home life, future careers and as members of the wider community.

For the parent

We believe children’s development is a shared journey in which parents, schools and our team all play a vital role. Therefore, we value close collaboration with parents, offering understanding, practical advice, reassurance and proactive communication.

Our online academy, in-person learning events and personalised coaching provide professional training for all staff, including specialist trainings focused on the international and multilingual child. In this way, we ensure we are also there to guide and support both children and their parents as they navigate the unique challenges of raising a family in a new country.

Our name says it all

The name Basker is inspired by the English verb ‘to bask’. It is often translated as ‘enjoying’, but it means so much more than that. It's about a warm, safe environment where you feel seen and at home. Imagine a child sitting in the sunshine. Relaxed and with an open gaze. Curious about what's to come. But 'basking' is also about being proud of who you are and daring to take your place in the world. That is what we want to give children at Basker: the space to play, to develop, to enjoy - and to discover the world with confidence.

A wide range of childcare services

We work both independently and in partnership with all key international schools in The Hague and Voorburg. Across seven state-of-the-art locations, our team of around 150 childcare professionals provides a wide range of fully English-speaking and bilingual (English–Dutch) childcare services for children aged 0 to 12. We offer Day Care (full days for ages 0–4), Pre-School (morning sessions for ages 2.5–4), and After School and Holiday Care (afternoons and full days during school holidays for primary and junior school children). All are delivered with the same modern and internationally-oriented pedagogical approach, designed to give children the foundations to thrive wherever life may take them.

Well thought through

At every location and at every age, children are encouraged to explore, learn and develop in thoughtfully designed spaces that feel just like home. Our homely interiors with stylish wallpaper and soft carpeted areas, carefully crafted learning zones, bespoke furniture and spacious natural gardens provide inspiring environments for play and learning.
For the youngest children, the facilities are completed by a parents' room and a spacious indoor play hall. In-house chefs prepare fresh, organic meals tailored to each child’s needs, ensuring that care, nourishment and development go hand in hand.

Every day, we are driven by our mission to shape a better tomorrow through sustainable education and care. We are proud to be part of Babilou Family Netherlands, together with our sister organisations Basker kinderopvang and BijdeHandjes christelijke kinderopvang.

As part of the international Babilou Family, one of the world’s largest childcare organisations, we share knowledge and expertise, invest in research, and collaborate with children, parents, pedagogues, educators, government agencies and partners such as UNICEF and KiKa. Together, we believe in shaping a better tomorrow through education and care.

As part of our belief in the long-term benefits of high-quality childcare for children and their families, we remain curious, always exploring what we can do differently and how we can improve. Safety and quality are our top priority, but we look at much more. We focus on a healthy lifestyle and sustainability, and on new ideas that help us support children and their families even better. Every day, we work to enhance our pedagogical quality and continue to learn from the children, from one another, from the latest scientific insights and from the world around us.
