Childcare protocols to ensure safety and quality

In good hands

At Basker International Childcare, formerly Zein International Childcare, safety and quality are our top priorities, both for our colleagues and for your child. Our childcare protocols reflect this commitment, and we comply with all the requirements of the Dutch Childcare Act. In addition, our staff meet the qualification standards set out in the Childcare Collective Labour Agreement. But what does this mean in practice for you and your child?

Childcare safety and health policy

Every Basker International Childcare location has a Childcare Safety and Health Policy (VGB). A key part of this policy is an action plan that identifies possible risks within childcare and explains the preventive or responsive measures we can take. This plan reflects what childcare facilities must comply with and is available for both parents and colleagues. It is regularly discussed in team meetings. If new risks are identified, they are added to the plan, which is updated and managed by the location manager.

Hygiene

All Basker International Childcare locations are designed to be safe for your child. We meet national safety standards and have a certified emergency response officer at every location. If an accident does occur, our childcare professionals are there to help. Every member of staff is trained in Paediatric First Aid (EHAK), so they know how to act quickly and effectively. Each year, both internal and external GGD inspections are carried out at every location to ensure hygiene and safety are maintained.

Thorough recruitment process

We take the time to get to know our future colleagues. The first interview focuses on personality, pedagogical knowledge, experience and the candidate’s vision on childcare. Language skills, reliability and integrity are also important. If there is a good connection, we move to a second round, where we look at how the candidate works in practice and whether they fit well into the team. Only when everything is in place, from qualifications and references to a valid Certificate of Conduct (VOG), do we welcome them into our organisation.

Four-eyes principle

At Basker International Childcare, we follow the four-eyes principle to ensure your child is always in safe hands. This means there is always more than one pair of eyes and ears keeping watch. Our group spaces are designed with windows, sightlines or connecting doors to support this. Each location sets out how this is applied in its pedagogical plan. With an open working environment and a carefully selected team, your child’s safety is always our priority.

Learning with and from each other

We never stand still at Basker International Childcare. We support not only the development of your child but also that of our colleagues and organisation. Our training policy ensures staff continue to develop their knowledge and skills. Paediatric First Aid is a standard part of this, as are e-learnings on safety and pedagogy. We invest in the future of your child, our team and Basker as a whole.

A familiar face

We know how important it is for children and parents to see a familiar face in the group. That is why we ensure there is always a familiar childcare professional present, someone your child feels comfortable with. If a staff member is absent due to illness, cover is arranged with known faces, such as colleagues who step in regularly or staff from our own pool of flexible childcare professionals. They are just as familiar and qualified as our permanent team, so your child is always in good hands with us.

Reporting code

The safety of children is always our priority. We follow the national Child Abuse Reporting Code closely, with a clear step-by-step procedure. Location managers and childcare professionals can tell you more about how this works.
