Bigger, wiser, stonger

Transition to School

At Basker International Childcare, formerly known as Zein International Childcare, we prepare your child step by step for primary school. Not by pretending they’re at school already, but by playfully developing their language, motor, sensory, and emotional skills. This way, children grow bigger, stronger, and wiser every day. We understand that the transition to ‘big school’ is an important moment for both you and your child, but with Basker Day Care and Pre-School, that step becomes easier and more enjoyable.

Learning through play

A child of pre-school age wants to do everything themselves and explore as much as possible. At Basker International Childcare, they’re given all the space they need to do just that. They play with children their own age, make friends, and learn how to get along with others. They read books, name the colours in their drawings, and count the blocks as they build. Doing things independently builds confidence, an important foundation for a smooth transition to primary school.

A familiar daily routine

At Pre-School and Day Care, your child gets a little taste of what a school day will be like: playing, learning, eating, resting, and chatting during circle time. They practise interacting with others, speaking in a group, and working together. Already introducing them to certain activities and routines that are normal at school, makes starting school feel far less daunting when the time comes!

Focus on development

At Basker International Childcare, your child discovers colours, shapes, letters, and numbers through play, often without even realising it. Through activities that connect to their world, they learn about life in a fun and engaging way. They build towers with blocks, listen to stories, play with sand, and talk about how they feel. Our pedagogical professionals are always nearby to encourage your child to take the next step, sometimes by offering gentle support, sometimes by quietly observing their independent efforts. Every milestone is a moment to celebrate.

Independence

At primary school, children do many things on their own, such as going to the toilet, putting on their coat, making their own sandwich, and tidying up their belongings. At Basker Pre-School and Day Care, they practise trying new things, but they also learn to ask for help when they need it. That’s how they become independent.

Countdown calendar for primary school

What happens during a school day? Who will pick you up? Talk with your child about what to expect at school and ask what they’re looking forward to, or what might make them feel a little nervous. There are many wonderful books that help explain what life at primary school is like. To make the countdown to the first day even more special, you can also download our Countdown Calendar and enjoy a fun activity together.

Graduation ceremony

To celebrate the graduation of children moving on to primary school, a small ceremony is usually held before the summer holidays. Depending on the number of children graduating, this may take place twice a year. During the ceremony, children sing songs and showcase what they have learned about colours, numbers, and shapes.

The event is festive and memorable, with the children wearing graduation gowns and caps. They are now truly ready for school!
