At Basker International Childcare, formerly Zein International Childcare, it is not just about what we do but also about how we do it. Our approach aims to make children, parents and colleagues feel at home with us. This commitment is evident in everything we do, including the unique way we have designed the spaces within our childcare locations.
Our commitment to an innovative approach is embedded in every aspect of Basker International Childcare, including the interior design of our locations. You will never find walls painted in bright primary colours, or hard-edged white melamine cupboards creating a clinical feel. Instead, we favour a natural style, with beautifully patterned wallpaper, soft carpeted areas, and spaces furnished ‘just like home’.
The interior design of our locations is so integral to our philosophy that a bespoke furniture line was designed specifically with our childcare standard in mind. Designed by Kids-F, an interior designer and interior architect, the collection brings the outdoors inside by using smooth wooden forms and incorporating organic shapes reminiscent of trees. The tables and chairs are child-height, supporting free movement, choice and autonomy, with child-height sinks included. To complete the line, there are teachers’ cupboards and play arches designed to spark children’s imagination.
At Basker International Childcare, our groups are designed with freely accessible learning zones and materials, creating an environment rich in diverse opportunities that positively support different areas of development. The zones and resources encourage learning through curiosity and discovery. Examples of zones include: House and Imagination, Construction, Book and Conversation, Art and Craft, Science and Nature, Physical Activity, and Transport.
At our Club Basker International locations, where After School and Holiday Care is offered, there may be additional spaces, for example for workshops or small performances. Locations based at sports clubs may offer access to indoor or outdoor tennis and football courts, while those located within or closely connected to primary schools benefit from the use of sports halls and other school facilities.
We find it important that all of our locations have plenty of outdoor space available for children to enjoy and benefit from the outdoors. Whilst size and design differ per location, all locations have spacious play areas or natural gardens with greenery, designed with the different ages in mind.
Our pedagogical professionals are also committed to raising children’s awareness of the impact humans have on the environment. From an early age, children are engaged in eco-friendly activities that are embedded in our pedagogical approach. This extends beyond reusing, recycling and repurposing discarded materials for art, craft and inventive projects. By sowing, harvesting and eating fruits and vegetables from our own gardens, children experience the wonders of nature first-hand.
