Indoor play sand: Current update

Action taken in line with official guidelines 

As soon as we were informed about the situation concerning indoor play sand, we acted immediately in accordance with the advice of the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) and the childcare sector organisation (brancheorganisatie kinderopvang): all indoor play sand was either safely stored or responsibly disposed of. 

Our regular suppliers, Happy Planet and De Rolf Groep, have provided written confirmation that the indoor play sand supplied by them complies with the applicable safety standards and is considered safe. Nevertheless, in order to eliminate any potential risk or uncertainty, we have taken the precautionary decision to completely and responsibly remove all indoor play sand from our locations. In addition, no new indoor play sand will be brought into use until further notice. All parents were informed of this decision via the Parent Portal.  

National investigation ongoing 

The national investigation into indoor play sand is currently being conducted with due care under the supervision of the NVWA. We have full confidence in the expertise and independence of this investigation and are closely monitoring the guidance and findings in coordination with the childcare sector organisation. As always, the safety and wellbeing of the children remain our highest priority. We will, of course, keep you informed of any further developments.
