Welcome to Basker International Childcare

The world is at your feet
Here, we believe in the unique benefits growing up in an international environment can provide. With us, every child is recognised for who they are: their story, their background and their way of seeing the world. In a safe, nurturing environment that feels like home, your child’s confidence and curiosity will grow day by day.

Our well-qualified team of childcare professionals provides engaging learning experiences that support all areas of development. They inspire, support and challenge your child. Through meaningful activities and relationships, your child will learn about themselves, how to connect with others and how to embrace change with adaptability and confidence. This lays the foundations to thrive, wherever life may take them.

The child is at the heart of everything we do. Your child. We believe that every child has their own personality from the very beginning, along with a natural desire to explore. This vision of the child is the starting point for everything we do. During their time with us, from baby through to senior school, children are given the freedom to gain their own experiences and make their own choices.

Our pedagogic approach

A strong foundation
Safety is our top priority, both physical and emotional safety. We provide an environment where children have the freedom to move and explore, while feeling safe and at home. Our well-trained childcare professionals are always close by to offer support and guidance.

How do we guide children in their development? At Basker International Childcare, we know it is not only about what we do, but also about why and how we do it. Our pedagogical practice combines the latest research with over a decade of experience in working with international children.
Be skilled
rocket
As professionals, we take our work seriously while keeping it playful and flexible. Every child is free to follow their own adventurous path, and we are here to support them.
Focus areas
Media literacy
In After School Care, we use the digital world to support children’s development, both individually and in groups. We do this consciously and in an age-appropriate way. At Day Care and Pre-School, we have a no screen policy.
Healthy nutrition
Our meals are not only nutritious but also a feast for the senses. All to encourage children to eat healthily and discover new flavours.
Be open-minded
magnifying_glass
We are open, respectful and reliable. Every child is welcome, and diversity is embraced. You can be who you are and become who you want to be.
Focus areas
Child participation
We involve children in decisions and activities that match their age and stage of development. This gives them a strong sense of confidence and helps build a positive self-image.
Be passionate
heart
Our passion for children and their development makes every day special. We enjoy what we do and celebrate both big and small successes, helping your child be the very best they can be.
Focus areas
Sustainability
We want children to learn to care consciously for themselves, for others and for the world around them. That is why we spend plenty of time outdoors and also bring nature inside.
Be courageous

With us, children are encouraged to experiment and explore. They are given the space to try things out and do them independently, without the end result being the main focus.
Focus areas
Motor skills and movement
We challenge small and bigger adventurers to develop their motor skills by running, climbing and playing actively. It strengthens the body, stimulates the brain, and builds both confidence and self-awareness.
Creative development
Do you enjoy dancing, acting or expressing yourself creatively in other ways? We encourage children to discover what they love. The focus is not on a perfect end result, but on the joy of the creative process.

Development of the child’s brain
Science, sustainability and innovation
Most brain connections are formed during the first years of life. Knowledge from brain science helps us make the right choices for healthy development. We realise that the environment we create matters and take this responsibility seriously.

A clean and healthy world
Science, sustainability and innovation
We want to leave the world clean and healthy for the next generation, so they too can enjoy everything the earth has to offer. This requires a focus on sustainability. We play outside a lot, work with natural materials, implement vegetable gardens at our locations, and participate in awareness campaigns like International Cleanup Day. Playing and crafting with recycled materials also contributes to this.

Together we grow
Science, sustainability and innovation
At Basker International Childcare, we base our approach on the latest scientific research and collaborate with universities and other institutions to conduct research at our own locations. This way, we contribute to society, with insights we’re happy to share with our colleagues in the field. Only together can we achieve further innovation!

What makes us unique

Our commitment to setting the standard in international childcare

Home away from home

With many families far from loved ones, we offer a warm, welcoming community. This feeling is reinforced by individual attention for your family, inviting interiors, and home-like spaces such as open kitchens, a spacious inner hall, and a parents’ room.

The needs of internationals

We recognise that exposure to many cultures from an early age offers a unique perspective and shapes who children become. Our staff aims to equip children with the skills to navigate change and feel at home during transitions and in foreign environments, for example when arriving in the Netherlands.

Social-emotional development

Our approach fosters skills like empathy, persistence, and self-esteem in children; skills that are key to their wellbeing, learning, and success at school, at home, and with peers.

Positive behaviour guidance

Using an approach centred around helping children understand the power of their own choices, staff help children understand the link between actions and consequences. This child-centred approach builds self-esteem, responsibility, and decision-making skills.

Warm, organic meals

Healthy eating is key to development. Our on-site chefs serve warm, organic meals and snacks, tailored to diverse cultural and dietary needs.

Learning through exploration

Basker's group spaces feature open-access learning zones that spark curiosity and support all areas of development. Zones include Imagination, Construction, Books, Art, Science, Nature, and more. Our natural gardens are designed with all ages in mind, supporting countless hours of outdoor play and discovery.
