We are Basker: new name, same heartbeat

We are proud to be sharing the Basker name with our sister organisations Zonnekinderen and BLOS, also part of Babilou Family Nederland. Moving forward together allows us to implement good initiatives at locations more quickly and improve our childcare continuously – with a clear focus on what truly matters: through sustainable education and care, we prepare children to thrive and contribute as conscious human beings. While our name is changing, our commitment to offering high-quality, internationally-oriented childcare remains exactly the same. Reflecting this commitment, the Zein locations will operate under the name Basker International Childcare, with a tailored approach that suits the needs of international children and their families.   

Celebrating together 

At Basker, we celebrate small and big steps together. Therefore, on Thursday 20 November, we will be celebrating this milestone with the children and our colleagues. Children can take part in fun activities and will receive a small surprise to take home. Children who are not attending childcare on this day will receive theirs when they next come to Basker International Childcare. And to make this new phase truly visible, many of our locations have already been given new signage, posters, and recognisable Basker materials, with the rest to follow in the coming period. 

Our names says it all 

The name Basker is inspired by the English verb ‘to bask’. That is often translated as ‘to enjoy’, but it means much more than that. It’s about a warm, safe environment where you feel seen and at home. Imagine a child sitting in the sunshine. Relaxed and with an open gaze. Curious about what’s to come. But ‘basking’ is also about being proud of who you are and daring to take your place in the world. That is what we want to give children at Basker International Childcare: the space to play, to develop, to enjoy – and to explore the world with confidence.

We are Basker 

We are proud of this next chapter. Our new name expresses who we are becoming, without changing who we are at heart. Our values, our strong international foundation, and our commitment to offering a home away from home for you family remain unchanged. We remain firmly rooted in the trusted care and expertise you already know from Zein, while ready to grow and develop together with children, parents, partners and colleagues. Together, we continue to build an environment in which children feel seen and can play, discover and develop with confidence in themselves, others and the world around them. We continue to invest in and learn from the latest scientific insights into early childhood development, and translate these into practice. For example in the areas of outdoor play, physical activity, healthy nutrition, sleep, child participation and media policy. In addition, we continue to innovate and respond to the needs of children, for example with our After School Care Clubs. After all, we believe that every child deserves a good start in life.
